Cirkles Live at Hard Rock Mumbai on Thursday, 5th August

Cirkles is the brainchild of Teemeer Chimulkar (ex-vocalist and lead guitarist and founder member of Sceptre, one of Mumbai's decade old Heavy metal band).

The Mumbai-based band was formed as a result of acoustic jams at various house parties with Teemeer and his circle of friends jamming together songs encompassing a wide genre of rock music using only acoustic guitars. That's when friends suggested taking it more seriously and try doing more professional performances with the jamming theme intact. So here’s the end product, Cirkles, an acoustic experimental rock band which covers music from a whole variety of sub-genres of rock and tries to put its own personal/acoustic touch to the songs.

The idea was also to bring heavy and thrash metal music to the masses and non-rock lovers and play music at a very basic/acoustic level. The current band line-up started performing with its launch gig at the Furtados counter at the Palm Expo in June 2008. The talent of the band lies in how the band performs covers in their own unique style. Songs are as diverse as thrash classics (Memory Remains by Metallica and Tornado of Souls by Megadeth) to classic pop covers (Wicked Game by Chris Isaak and Ordinary World by Duran Duran). The band has since performed and headlined various shows in Government Law College (GLC), Palm Expo May 2008 and at Club D'ultimate August 2008 and most recently in most of the annual events at Mithibai College and NM college with performances at the Jasoda Rang Mandir and rocking students at the KEM medical college and VJTI, Matunga in Dec-Jan’10 with a mix of English and hindi/bollywood rock music. All the shows ran to packed houses with patrons choosing to join in the fun and singing along with the band throughout the set. Cirkles always has an active crowd participation.

They are regulars at NOT JUST JAZZ BY THE BAY, Firangipani(Andheri-w), Hard rock café and Gadda-da-vida in Hotel Novotel, Juhu, Mumbai. Influences for the band as a whole range from Metallica, Megadeth, Slipknot, Pantera to Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Sting, The Police, The Doors, Hindi Rock, Bollywood, etc.

Venue: Hard Rock Café, Bombay Dyeing Mills Compound, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai

Date: 05th August 2010

Time: 9:30 onwards

Entry: Rs 150

They never thought chilling could be so productive. Bradley (Ex-Thrice9) and Rohan (Ex-Something Relevant) soon found themselves singing and playing guitar together as they formed an acoustic duo. Aditya (Rosemary) and Adil (The SOS) soon joined them to move their sound in a direction in which they saw it going. This lead to what is called 'The colour compound'. After having found their sound, which they find hard to classify, they began to move forward to spread their music and the message of life as it is. Fresh and with a few shows lined up, they hope to see you there, as they have moments and melodies they'd love to share.

Venue: Hard Rock Café, Bombay Dyeing Mills Compound, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai

Date: 03rd August

Time: 9:30 onwards

Entry: Rs 100
Ph. Ministry of Sound Tour featuring DJ Joelle Atkins and DJ Ivan at Shiro

Back with a bang, yet again a night of global music with our guest from London - DJ Joelle Atkins this Saturday, alongside Tour Resident - DJ IVAN only at Shiro, Lounge.

Hailing from outskirts of London, Joelle Atkins is a name that is synonymous with upfront house music & rocking dance floors. Starting her DJ journey back in 2002, she’s comes with a passion for rhythm and music, her unwavering taste of best house music is what she been known for over the last ten years or more. Joelle Atkins is a fine female artist that has been pleasantly proud to associate herself with the genre for ever since. Best described as an artist DJ Joelle works with vocal, uplifting house music bordering on electronica and in some cases progressive and tech like in it’s nature, Joelle was inspired by celebrated musicians such as Hernan Catteneo, Mark Knight, Sven Vath, Dave Spoon, Laid Back Luke, Eric Prydz and Axwell amongst others.

Joelle has been building her profile on & off the decks, with sets at some of London’s coolest clubs for some of the capitals most talked about events. With guest appearances at Pacha, The Cross (RIP), Ministry Of Sound, The White House and many more, she’s a DJ that combines passion for her sound with a technical ability that is up there with the best of them. Her sound is described by most as ‘Uplifting’ house music, very upfront in style and guaranteed to rock any educated dance floor out there in club land!

Outside of the DJ box, Joelle is also found working hard in the studio, where she’s developing her sound and establishing her production talent and this comes on the back of her completing a music production course. She’s also been involved promoting her own parties and has big plans on this front in the months to come!

This is going to be one of the world class clubbing experience which you wouldn't want to miss. So come down to your favourite lounge on 31st July.

To hear her music log on to: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ctlbtk

Date : 31st July 2010

Venue: Shiro Lounge.

Time: 9:30

Entry : Rs 500/- per pax

Taking her cue from an education that comprises entirely of an unwavering taste for the very best house music our beloved industry has been kind enough to offer over the last ten years or more, Joelle Atkins is a fine female artist that has been pleasantly proud to associate herself with the genre since she began her DJ journey back in 2002. After a trip to the beautiful White Island that is Ibiza that very year, Joelle’s love affair with upfront house music began to take an all the more creative turn as she took to her first set of turntables to master the craft of smoothly blending soulful grooves with tantalising vocals and tightly mixed production that would see her begin a journey that was far beyond her wildest aspirations. Best described as an artist that works with vocal, uplifting house music bordering on electronica and in some cases progressive and tech like in it’s nature, Joelle was inspired by celebrated musicians such as Hernan Catteneo, Mark Knight, Sven Vath, Dave Spoon, Laid Back Luke, Eric Prydz and Axwell amongst others. She studied a music production course by day and tirelessly practised mixing by night and as a result of that began a steady course of appearances that would include main room debuts across not just her native and beloved United Kingdom, but also in Russia, Germany, Portugal and Spain amongst others. These experiences would see her rock the room of many an establishment and well reputed club brand such as Pacha, The White House, Ministry Of Sound and before it’s sad departure The Cross in London, that would have Joelle joining promotions like Gliteratti, Miami Calling, Lose Control and Fallen Angels. Proving particularly popular in her own locale - London town itself, Joelle’s live and vibrant performance as a DJ allows for an uplifting and fulfilling experience to the very crowds that occupy the most talked about of events in Britain’s great capital. Of course, when not entertaining London’s masses, Joelle works hard developing new, exclusive and innovative house music, that has already earned her acclaim amongst her peers. Working up such after hours treats as ‘Refleckt’ as well as her own dark and minimal, yet techy and funky re-take on Scott Harrington’s ‘Jungle Hot’ or an outstanding, uplifting and smooth cover of Shakedown’s dance floor smash ‘At Night’, Joelle’s work in the studio has laid down a pathway to making a big noise amongst club land’s elite, so much so that she headlined Club Korvet in Russia, leading to her getting involved with quite an extensive live Radio campaign. Speaking of international support, recently Joelle was selected from a wide selection of the female house artists across all of Worldwide super social network My Space’s ranks and was added to a shortlist of just four to compete in the Pink Armada DJ contest in Portugal where she battled it out to become a firm favourite with PA’s management. This backs nicely then onto the production in 2010 of her tirelessly planned and eagerly awaited debut artist album, which amongst those that have now been keen followers of Joelle’s for some time, is an experience they hope will spread Worldwide as quickly as her reputation for performing anoutstanding set has. Not limiting her skills to just production and performance, Joelle is also an avid Promoter. Combine such ambition with an ongoing desire to continue to produce outstanding, interesting and often uniquely brilliant house music and only matched by a bright, enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing approach to all she meets, as well as a taste for entertaining the masses in their droves in whichever country she touches down in; we’re betting it’s no wonder that anytime soon she’ll be headlining upon the very Island that started a dream for her. A dream some would say, that has now become a heartfelt and superbly engineered reality. If house music has indeed got a bright and beautiful future, we’re certain it has Joelle Atkins written all over it…

One Night Stand at Hard Rock Café on Thursday , July 29

One Night Stand was formed in May 2003 as a result of a chain mail sent by MTV looking out for professional rock musicians who could be part of a classic rock jam session for a particular event. An enthusiastic set of responses was followed by a quick short listing (by leader and vocalist Kartik Chintamani) and the rehearsals kicked off. The gig was well received with an overwhelming response. Aimed to be a One Night Stand in its true sense, the band had no intentions of doing anything together seriously. But after the gig everyone in the band realized the potential and decided to carry this effort forward. Since every member was already a professional musician and also had been part of earlier rock bands from various parts of the country, the sound was always tight and the vibes on stage were fantastic

Venue: Hard Rock Café, Bombay Dyeing Mills Compound, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai

Date: 29th July 2010

Time: 9:30 onwards

Entry: Rs 150

Ph.
