First up! July 27, 7pm: Docu on Anish Kapoor
A documentary on the extraordinary sculptures and overwhelming artworks of the creative genius – Anish Kapoor. It focuses on Anish’s latest work, Monumenta at the Grand Palais, Paris – a breathtaking sculpture which alludes to the idea of a cathedral.
August 3, 7pm: The Genius of Design – BBC documentary- Genius of Design focuses on all thing industrial design and sets out to answer the question – what makes a designer. Screening of two parts from the five part series, charting the history of design through the industrial revolution to the new product designs that emerged for the post-war liberating lifestyles of consumers.
August 10, 7pm: Objectified – Director Gary Hustwit (Helvetica)
A feature length documentary about our complex relationship with
manufactured objects, and by extension, the people who design them. This film documents the creative processes behind path-breaking products – from toothbrushes to tech gadgets.
August 17, 7pm – The Private Life of a Masterpiece – BBC Docu
In a fascinating series, key works of art are investigated and the intricate details of their lives revealed – the history, contemporary reactions, and legacies of each
are illustrated. Screening of the second part which sheds light on the famous artwork by Gustav Klimt- ‘The Kiss’.
August 24, 7pm: Placido Domingo – Greatest Person Alive in Opera
This documentary takes the form of a retrospective of the greatest work of Placido Domingo – experienced conductor and one of the greatest stage tenors still performing. Features include specially- filmed interviews and performance footage.
